The 34th Convention of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) took place in Lagos Nigeria from the 20th – 25th November 2011.
With the theme “Women through the Ages and Sustainable Empowerment” our members examined the progress women have made and look at how best to improve their welfare and status.
The Sub-themes and Topics included:
- Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women.
- The role of Government on Women Empowerment.
- Women’s Legal Status and Rights – improving women’s property, inheritance and land rights.
- Gender justice through equal opportunities.
- Women in Decision making bodies.
- Mentoring for Sustainable Empowerment of Women, Social and Economic.
The Chairperson of the Constitution Amendment Committee was Dr. Anamah Tan of Singapore.
