We promote the welfare of

Women & Children

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), is an NGO. We are involved in the promotion, protection and preservation of the rights of women and children. These include their civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights.

Our aim is to organize women lawyers nationally, regionally and internationally, promoting the study of comparative law and advance the opportunities available to the women.

In consultative status with the economic and social council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) since 1954, we create spaces to network with other NGOs and co-operate with governmental organisations.

We seek to realize our objectives mainly through three avenues:

Our work at the United Nations

FIDA has the privilege and the right to attend meetings of the ECOSOC and some of its functional and special commissions; we participate in their work by making our position known on various subjects through oral interventions and written statements made at those meetings.

FIDA's International conventions

These conventions give us the opportunity to become personally acquainted with members from different regions and cultures, make a comparative study of some particular phase of the law, write papers, and after debate, come to consensus conclusions, embodied in resolutions.

Our publications

With the purpose to keep open lines of communication with our members and to keep them informed about our work and results, we publish The Abogada Newsletter, the convention review La Abogada Internacional and papers prepared by individual members or committees which are read at various events of the Federation.
